    Howdy, I have a 2011 Tacoma 5-speed automatic transmission with the ECT-I transmission and am curious if there is a button or way to disengage the electronic component or if that's even something I should look into...

    I have a feeling it is permanently engaged and cannot be turned off but want to check and make sure. I don't see a button on my dash for it but I know its equipped and engaged (whether permanently or semi-permanently, I don't know lol)

    Thanks!

    Not sure what you mean, there is no ECT Power mode or button on 2nd gen trucks like 1st and 3rd gen trucks have.

    Gotcha, how does the ECT-I transmission work in a second generation Tacoma if there's no power mode available? Like what is the function of it? (I'm only curious)

    I think Toyota refers to most of their electronic automatic tramsmissions as ECT-i

    ECT-i just stands for in Toyota's terms Electronically Controlled Transmission with Inteligent Control.

    I'm not sure why they didn't include a power/normal mode on 2nd gens, really all it does is raise the normal shift points a bit.

    Gotcha, so the ECT is essentially permanent on the 2nd gens? Thanks for the clarification man!

    I mean all automatic transmissions nowadays are electronic so yes.

    ECT = Electronically Controlled Transmission.

    The only way to change shift behavior on 2nd gens though is with a tune.

    Alot of info about the inner workings of the A750 transmission can be found here.

    pretty sure ECT is referred to as a button on 16-23 that changes throttle map when pressed and did not come on 2nd gen

    The stock 2nd gen 5spd auto transmission will change shift points etc (what "ECT ON" - 1st gen "ECT POWER" - 3rd gen) does automatically depending on load/throttle input etc.

    That makes total sense, I wish the option existed on the second gens but I guess they don't lol
