Just finished up a speaker/head unit upgrade on my taco.

To anyone looking for a simple easy audio upgrade, this is for you. The XAV-AX7000 head unit has a 400w built in amp and can support a sub. The kicker speakers are an enormous upgrade over the stock ones, the volume is absolutely insane. Only complaint is it likes to blow fuses if you go above volume level 45, but even that is twice as loud and clear as the stock speakers. [IMG]
Here’s the stock Sr5 speakers next to the kicker speakers. As you can see it’s a pretty substantial upgrade. There’s the new head unit in the truck with CarPlay too.

I’m interested in the head unit. Which one did you get?

I've had the AX-7000 for about a year and a half. Overall I'm happy with it, but there are a couple of things that still annoy me:
    • Android Auto is useless. It disconnects constantly, but I'm going to blame that on my Samsung phone.
    • The backup camera comes on, but then about three seconds later it turns off for about 1-2 seconds and then comes back on Not a huge deal, but it's a bit dangerous if you're backing up in a crowded area. I have a manual transmission.
If you really want to round out the sound, stick a Pioneer TS-WX130DA under your seat. It really pairs up nicely with the Sony.
