Awesome man - great post and pics! Hope you guys have a nice ride. I'll be doing the DGR in Philadelphia, looks like 157 riders registered so far. Great cause and always a wide variety of neat bikes show up. Here is my page I admittedly don't put enough effort into fund raising, nice work on your end!

I think the DGR site might be down. I can't get it to load from the links or directly.

i just hit kevin's link and it took me there 5 min ago. But you're right. "504 gateway timed out"

Bad timing. Must be a traffic overload.

Correct. That's a M2 Cyclone with a lot of tasty mods done. They were one of the original hooligan bikes. Would wheelie in almost any gear. Friend of mine still has his 02.

IDK if you want a suggestion, but whenever I was in a cut I found lollipops to be great for my sugar cravings which I get pretty bad. satisfies the sweet tooth, keeps you from eating other foods for at least 30 mins, and pretty low calorie. Smarties candies too but that can be a slippery slope.

I also don't know how strict you are being, so they may not even fit within your diet but just a thought.

Yup the site isn't loading for me either, the first time I tried getting on there was a message that said it was down for maintenance.

Also tagging @woodtickgreg I'm pretty sure he participates too

What was funny was that was their lowest priced model during that time before the Buell Blast came out. It was the same 1200cc twin with milder cams and cylinder heads and had degular forks instead of inverted forks. Great fun to ride with loads of midrange but not super comfortable for any sort of distance.

You made the right call on the 700. Even with the throttle response turned down and the traction control on, it’s like riding a bomb. In its own way, it’s less manageable than my GSXR1000 was. At least that bike had to rev a little before things got crazy.

The Buell was a 2002 Cyclone. 1200 Sportster engine. Plenty of usable power and nice predictable handling. Good brakes. Beautiful to look at. Passable for touring. When you look at the FTR1200, you realize it was ahead of its time.IMG_3213.jpg

that last bit is surprising to me, it looks fairly upright, would have figured the opposite.

I would certainly agree. To date it's the only bike I've accidentally wheelie'd due to the low end torque...couldn't imagine a 900 lol.

Definitely see the similarities between the Buell and Indian...maybe thats what needs to replace the XSR? :anonymous:

The MT/FZ-09 is a wheelie machine. My 2014 had no traction or wheelie control, you had to be careful not to grab too much a handful off the line… front wheel would lift so easy very fun bike!

edit: and that triple sounds amazing!

Hey good news. I spent all day tuning the Kawasabi and got pops and bangs down to a minimum. All the walking back and forth from my laptop (work), tool shed, and Wasabi has paid off. I can now proudly say I am unafraid to stand on the ball of my left foot!

So... I did a lot of slow speed road and trail work to regain some skills. Everything feels good. I guess I just needed a good spanking to get my head right for 2 wheels plus 45 HP.

Took a nice 100mi ride after work. Feels great to be back on the road again.

The seat was pretty thin on the M2. Seating position was decent enough but the seat itself was another story. They did offer a better seat and it did help. My friend could ride about 100-150 miles and was ready to call it a day.

I have cut out refined sugar 100%. I did the sauna then had a spoon full of peanut butter. It’s all good now. The problem is that the wife buys crap for the kids so it’s in the house. I have real good self control but gets hard when it’s right there.

My Dad fed the riding habit, kept bringing bigger ones home for me until the 175 Bridgestone. LOL After that, I had to buy my own. I have had a bike continuously since about 11 years old other than 4 years after a divorce in 96. That pretty much cleaned my clock for those 4 years, but they were not completely dry. I had a brother in-law who was an over the road truck driver, my sis went with him. They would come in every 3 or 4 weeks. He always had a bike of some kind and always brought it to my house and said, do you mind keeping the battery charged and fuel fresh. Treat it like your own. I put 21,000 miles on two of his CB750K's. He's an old man now, but to this day he is more brother than brother in-law.

I love candy and yes my greatest enemy also. It was hard at first but getting better. Still getting the obvious cravings but I found things to take my mind off it. When I was smoking weed I had no self control.
