Is competency a lost art these days?

I requested the appraiser call me when he showed Monday for the appraisal since I wanted to give him copies of my receipts for the Pro grille and the light bar mounts.

He never called. I got the appraisal today which doesn’t include the valence panel that’s cracked, includes the lower MPG spoiler from the Sport and an SR grille.

I emailed the receipts to the appraiser and got a call back from the company saying it doesn’t matter, the supplements would cover it and besides they couldn’t tell there was a different grille on there. That’s why I wanted you to call me, you muppets.

At least the Sortafit parts they quoted are within a few bucks of OEM parts using the online dealer arm pricing, so it should come out as a wash and I’ll get OEM stuff even if I have to pay a few bucks for it.

All of this…ALL of this would have been solved with a phone call Monday morning. Of course they have my Mom’s house number for some reason and despite four attempts to change it between my local agent, adjuster, and appraiser, she gets calls.

Clearly it is..and Muppets is about the most accurate description.

People need to pay attention, it cost zero dollars and zero cents.

Problem is, "it's just a job" so do what they say, follow the script, get your paycheck.

No one has any interest in it. Only the bottom line. Top to bottom.
Can say that in just about any setting anymore.
Insurance is one of the worst.

Last time I had to deal with the appraiser/inspector/whatever they straight up no-showed for the appointment and filed their report without ever having looked at the vehicle - they just cribbed the shop's estimate and plugged in their own numbers, and had the gall to argue about certain damage.

Good thing is, my insurance company is so grabasstic dealing with the far Northeast that a quick call to point out the guy was a no-show, the paperwork was fraudulent, and they weren't following their own process got rid of all the problems on their end.

My guy quit taking my insurance (USAA - how the mighty have fallen) because they just can't get their shit together up here. That's fine - cause all I have to do is take his estimate, submit it, take the check, and hand it to him. It's actually even faster and easier this way than to let USAA handle everything slowly and poorly.

The shop I deal with is excellent, so I’m not stressed there, but I was trying to make things easier for the shop.

Once I drop off the estimate I’ll just give them the receipts and stuff and go from there. I still need to see what they will and won’t touch as far as paint to what I do or don’t do.

Same thing. But 4 kids and my daughter is 9. She was able to ditch her cast on Monday. She had fractured her arm playing at recess. She's a little bit accident prone though. Last year she split under her chin open from something at the playground requiring 7 stiches

Thanks guys. She's fine though. Little laggy this morning while we wait to take off, but, she'll heal up quick.
Yeah, she's pretty fearless, so, gets bumped a bit.
I think she's more bummed that she can't play drums, and will miss out on some riding time.

Sending well wishes. I did both my wrists before I was 3. I'm astonished neither of my kids have broken anything, they must not have inherited my genes.

Still healing my broken wrist from last Fall. Sucks, I have carpel tunnel-like symptoms now, my hand/fingers go numb easily and my range of motion is not like it used to be at all. First real bone I've broken, I've cracked and broken fingers, ribs and toes but I'm not counting those. Recovery sucks, but the casts seem much better than what I remember my friends having when they were younger. I could get mine wet and they only kept it on for 3 weeks, then they wanted me to start moving the joint so it wouldn't seize.

First bone I broke was my ankle. I was in 6th grade at the time. They gave me a full cast. I don't remember much discomfort other than wearing a cast and using crutches.

Back in 2019 I broke the ankle again, along with a bone in my foot. Didn't hurt much, but was definitely swollen and black and blue. I was given a cast shoe and about 5 weeks out of work. Didn't really have any discomfort this time either.

Several weeks ago I broke my small toe. It was a clean break, didn't need to be set, but there was a risk that the bone might not fuse together on its own because of where the break was. At first it didn't hurt, but I have nights where it feels like someone is squeezing the toe, or like there's electrical pulses traveling through it. Not too painful, but weird and new for me. I'll be going back to work with a carbon fiber plate in my shoe for a few weeks. I'll see how it feels after being on it all day at work.

Ya they want folks to start moving things way quicker than in the past.

broken wrist a couple times, just shortly after the first heal, I was up to bat and took a baseball off the same wrist and broke it again. Not sure how many boxers fractures I had from punching shit, but my favorite bone break is when a school friend got mad at me an broke his hand when he punched me if the face.

I've got 8 screws and a plate in my right ankle. Broke the fibula and the malleolus on both sides. I'm astonished that to this day I have zero lingering pain or anything from it. I stress fractured two or three toes rehabbing it.

Ironically breaking my ankle probably saved me from losing my job. We had a slow period, so being out on medical leave kept me off the payroll.

Thanks. She's making out today. Stopped in to see Tiff @ work on the way home, and check on the progress of the bike in the paint shop. Got weaseled into buying someone a Harley Zip-up hoodie.

Since it's too late to bother trying to get to a jobsite, probably gonna go blow some money at the range, and then a ride later...

And I'm not even going to get started on broken bones........:spy:
