Yeah, sure was.

Was going to Ridgefield to pick up the kiddo's goalie soccer shirt that came in.

 

Just got back from there and ... scary is definitely the right word. The friend I was with was doubtful we were in the right place as we drove on the rough pavement past fairly large old institutional buildings in varying states of disrepair. Then the sun went down and it was possibly even more scary in the dark on the way.

Took the train from NH to Danbury, which my first time on the Danbury line (take the NH line to Grand Central all the time, but had never ventured up to Danbury). Pretty nice, although the trains are a step down in amenities, less electrical outlets and less modern seats (strongly reminded me of the NJ Transit trains).

Made it to three of the recommendations tonight, all were good:

- Charter Oak: family feel with thoughtful woodwork and the older owners behind the bar, crowd was mellow and seemed like mostly working professionals getting off work for Friday happy hour. Beer was good, not amazing, but good. No food, but Caribbean food truck outside.
- Broken Symmetry: pretty fancy, situated right by the train tracks in Bethel (which also seems to be generally fancy), good menu but beer menu was less targeted to hipster IPA drinkers so we drank both IPAs they had and moved on after a pretzel. Nice vibe, good lighting, feels like a good place to take a date. Name seemed like it could also be the name of a high school emo band.
- NewSylum: I confess the name didn't make sense to me, until we got there and ... then it did. Beer was fantastic, pizza was also fantastic. Vaulted ceilings, a lot of room and a futuristic (huge) pizza oven with a large stainless chimney raising all the way up to the top of the ceiling. Great spot.

That's awesome. I'm glad you had a good time and able to check out some recommendations! Did the wife/owner at charter oak bake any goodies?!? She usually walks around with home made cookies or brownies or something and hands them out for free.

And yeah the beer and food at newsylum is very good.

Greeting from our home away from home, the Manchester Hampton Inn and Suites...

Our well pump went out yesterday and no replacement available until Monday at the earliest. Old pump is 4" and was difficult to pull up due to corrosion in the casing. A new 4" won't go down so we're waiting on a longer 2.5" pump...which nobody has in stock.

Upside is I've got a lot of travel points so hotel isn't costing me. But the whole situation still SUCKS

Regrettably no, although will have to look out for those next time!

Any other recommendations in the area are always welcome, my buddy is probably going to buy a place in Sherman and I don't know that sort of W/NW side of the state very well.

 

Finally dethatched my yard.

Didn't get as much done as I wanted to yesterday. Got a late start after work and once that sun went down, boy it was cold. That being said, the solar panel is up and mounted on the roof rack. Will need to run the wires and hook it up.

I also installed a light bar and wired that up.

A few other small/quick mods that are on the docket are the always on ECT mod. Bought the module off eBay (he's also a forum member here) and I really want to pull the trigger on the morimoto rock lights and use a few of them as under hood lighting.

Happy Sunday. Chilly out. Gonna go mow my buddy's lawn.

 

I decided it's more chilly out than the lawn is long. I already mowed 1x, it can wait a week.

Dragged out the ladder, climbed/crawled on top of the RV & was set to finally fix the antenna. Took forever for the part to get back in stock, been a year or more to get to this point. Get up there pull things apart & they sent me the wrong part. Perfect.

Decided to Dicore the roof seams. The Dicore I ordered is the wrong product, it's some internal version. Seeing the trend?
WTH, touch up the roof with some caulking. Could not get the caulking to flow. Finally got the tube to burst & used caulking out the bottom by finger methog.
F-it. Whole day fought me. Went to Walmart to buy the Prius a new battery - they didn't have the look up your car to determine which battery you need computer.
Dang dead battery zapped me for good measure.

It's like @super_white and @Cativelense luck combined for me today.

The Tacoma ran well, got me to Wally world & back & fit in a small space. So all in all a good day.
Can I retire yet?

I hope to check some stuff off the Tacoma to do list this week. I wasn't able to make it up to mod day. I left my house later than I wanted.
I get up to 84 and it says I still have another 3 hours to go. It should be a 2 1/2 hour drive. I decided to turn around (close to @CTSpruceMica house). Maybe weekend traffic?

My electrical bins are sorted so stuff is much easier to find which helps with working on any project.
I did get some stuff done around the house.

I had an awesome time wheeling on Saturday.

And we say the same thing. In 2021 we did a cross country trip to visit the family in Bellingham, WA, thinking we would find a place to move back out west. We fell in love with Twin Falls, ID, but the twin falls are barely there. I think we are sticking with the wet northeast rather than moving back out west. We also love our house in Wallingford, and the thought of having to find something else out west gives me a stomach ache
