I noticed in the 1st 15 min of driving my new truck home that there was going to be a glare problem with the hood.
The hood line at the windshield with the sun over head made a perfect direct line glare right to my eyes. Stuffed my hat up there to get it home but this'll be something I need to fix asap. Now I could just coat it in mud and scuff the paint all up. But I'm not so inclined to do that with my first new vehicle, if it had a few years and a 100 thou on it that'd be a different story.
I found some flat black stripe wrap on Amazon that's 6"x60". Can anyone see a reason not to go ahead and just add that stripe across the top of the hood? Or another work around I'm just not seeing?

sure why not? Of course proper vision while driving is the priority.
I think a decal that fits our hood is available. If it were me, I would go to a local automotive vinyl shop and get it done right.

Full hood wrap though or just a stripe? I have a cousin that does body work I'm sure could hook me up with someone who can do it right.

I was thinking a partial, like down the center. Let me search and see if I can find what I think saw :D

    EDIT: that was quick.
I do NOT know these guys, but saw their site has a couple different options, thought that may help you decide. I am sure a local vinyl shop could probably make you whatever you wanted.

That's not to bad. Would have to look at it a bit more. Was honestly just thinking just the top few inches of the hood but those look pretty good. Thanks!

I leave at 1pm for work so I get a lot of that glare flash back from the hood back ledge. Flat black would have been better but the local auto parts only had one roll of CF left. Even with the semi gloss of the CF wrap the glare is much less than the paint.

Thank you. I took it easy and just had fun playing with the cruise control the whole way. Rather like the radar system it has.

OP, so funny you bring this up. I noticed the exact same glare as soon as I bought my truck last year and immediately thought of putting some flat black film across is just as you and folks here are suggesting.

I haven’t seen is mentioned here before and just assumed it was only me that was that picky!

I'm 5'3" with light sensitivity. So whether it's just poor luck with angles or my overly sensitive eyes. We could just be lucky like that.

The glare is one of the things you will get used to, since you will be so stoked on your new truck you will deal with it.
I have a Sport which is probably worse for glare, but I love my truck in spite of it.
Welcome to TW. You will learn all the other things to hate about your truck here. LOL :D

I would wait and make sure it's an issue before doing anything. It could be something you won't really notice moving forward.
I've heard of some getting glare off the scoop, but I think this is the first time I've read of anyone complaining about the non-scooped hood.
I guess I wear sunglasses most of the time...

That's a horrible idea. What time?
I'd do it. Have a shop do it if you don't know how or haven't done something that large. And there are pre-cut vinyl covers available for yours.

I have an Inferno Sport that came with the hood partially done. The glare was ridiculous. My wife and I added to it because the glare was awful and not very safe. I'm going to re-do these and add the full length to the front of the hood.

Perhaps you could get into the habit of wearing sun glasses when you drive. Its healthier for your eyes, and the upside is you will look cool.

I already do. I have extra sensitive transition lenses so a wrap it will be!

Its expensive, but window tint is a good investment, and helps cut the glare a lot.

Is your truck color magnetic gray metallic? Matte black looks outstanding on that color. Subtle but appealing.

Unfortunately windshield tint is mostly illegal in NY.

It's Black. I liked the blackout look. Although the magnetic Grey was my second choice.
