They will likely either sublet it to a weld shop to repair, or they will replace the whole log

This is the reason all my fine measuring tools (micrometer and dial calipers) are non battery powered. Woodworkers seldom get that fine lol. I do use a dial indicator to check squareness tho.

If it was out of warranty I’d probably try to weld it myself. I just hope I don’t miss any fishing cause of it!

I saw an Armadillo here last year! They finally migrated this far east and north from where they started. Those things will flat tear up a yard in just a few hours. And they are armored to boot!

Friend of mine have the similar crack in the same proximity which he had to pay for the repairs, their denial was “not a genuine factory defect”. :annoyed:
    Good luck with your claim.

I'm in agreement. If it's not below the water line, it's not a big deal.

I'd drill each end with an 1/8" bit then just spool gun weld it.

Aluminum does some odd things when it wants to stress relief it's welds.

I bet there are more cracks you don't even know about.

Even epoxy will out live your interest in running the boat.

    I got a Rivnut question.

I am looking to put some L track anchors in the frame of my aluminum trailer and I have bought aluminum and zinc coated rivnuts. I am thinking the carbon steel ones for strength since I am using it to transport stuff like mowers, SxS, and my tractor, but wonder if the Aluminum rivnuts would be strong enough for the task. Corrosion is a concern, but I can't see that being an issue with the coated rivnuts anyways. Trailer only sees weather when on the road, otherwise it stays indoors.

    Thanks.

Check here for some info: https://www.rivetnutusa.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/RIVNUT-TheOriginalRivnut.pdf

Engineering data starts on page 30.

If you are using 5/16 or 3/8 bolts in the Rivnuts and a good number of them I don't see then going anywhere.
