Nice truck. Those 4Runner rims look really good on 1st gens, especially with dark paint. Better than the factory alloys in my opinion.

Thanks bro! Yes sir, I loved them the second I put them on. I just put 285's on them and they're rubbing pretty good and I really don't want to buy any other wheels. I plan on trimming and eventually getting an off-road bumper but where it rubs the frame I'm kinda stuck. I've heard of the pinch weld mod but haven't looked into it yet.

Just put 285s on yesterday. Trimmed the plastic liner. Haven't dealt with the pinch weld yet.

I wanted some inexpensive wheels for running up to the mountains and tooling around. I picked up a set of early 2nd gen steel rims for $80. They'll work for now, but those 4Runner rims are giving me ideas. Damn you, TW!

Front bumper is on my list too. Not the sexiest, but I'll probably go ARB. It's tried and true and the best value I think. $866 delivered is hard to beat.

Our trucks have nearly identical front ends.

I saw a guy selling a Tacoma on CL and he had a Elite Off-road bumper on there. I almost threw him an offer on the bumper he couldn't refuse.(saving $$$ for a house) I'll probably look back and wish I had. I have yet to see an off-road bumper that compares to the quality. It's too bad he beat some people out of their money. He would of had a good thing going for a long time! I've got my eye on Relentless fab bumpers but it's kings or Fox's next with UCA's. I found my 4Runner rims on CL, as soon as I bought them I saw another pair on there for $100! I'm
Also looking out for a camper shell. If I keep buying stuff for this truck I'll never buy this house!

Damn. $100 is a steal. I thought $80 was a good deal for my steel wheels. I've got some Toytec coils sitting in my garage. I'm debating whether to put them on or wait until I get UCAs so I can do them both at once.

Relentless makes some quality stuff. What I like about the ARB is I know it works with the air bag system. I haven't read the same from makers.

There's a member here, I think his name is Ben Calhoun, that builds bumpers. I think only for 3rd gen Tacomas and 100 series LCs though. His LC rear bumpers are some of the nicest I've seen, very well thought out. A lot of photos on his Facebook page.

Pretty impressive work for a one-man show. Dissent Offroad is his business (and TW) name. He's about an hour north of me.

He used to have a 1st gen expo rig that was pretty wild: sliders, roof rack and rear bumper all integrated. He's over on expo portal as benc. There's more detailed pics of this setup here and here.

Thanks for the info! I'll check him out and maybe put him on the list of unending mods! :rofl:Its crazy how I debate within my self mods over saving for a house!

I'm already making a mortgage payment, but I can totally relate to the struggle over priorities. For example, I stepped through my dining room ceiling running security camera cables. That was over a year ago. The hole is still there. I have new tires though.

LOL! I was installing some duct work in a house and put my foot through the customers bedroom ceiling
This will be my second home purchase. A move into the country is long overdue.

Damn. I'll bet that was an "ohhhhhh fuuuuuuck" moment.

Buying a house is a tough pull unless you're making big dollars. I do okay, but it's still a big chunk of my take-home.

It sure was! I'm surprised the home owner acted like it was no big deal. I do o.k. myself. I just paid off 90% of my debt and hopefully going to stay within "reason" so I'm not living to pay off my mortgage. Small farm house on a few acres and I'll be good.
