I was happy to have a 5 speed with the FWC on. That allowed me to gear down when needed. I was slower with the FWC on, but I would not say it was that noticeable. I still drove at 65 mph along highways. It just took a bit longer to get up to speed. I never felt unsafe, even when merging onto a highway.
