20200711 - Dropping the Steering Rack

Unfortunately replacing the power steering lines requires dropping the steering rack. The 17mm connector on the high pressure side doesn't have enough clearance to loosen. I've never removed a steering rack, so this is the point I wonder if I'm in over my head.

To anyone reading this in the future. If you are just wanting to replace your power steering lines, you may not have to drop the rack after all. Another user in the What Have you Done Today thread mentioned that you can cut the hard line just in front of the connector and fit a 17mm socket with multiple extensions under the front of the truck and gain access to remove it that way. If your lines are already leaking, I would give that approach a try before dropping the rack.
